Welcome to LIPCANDY! I used to work in the media industry and now I’m an entrepreneur raising two boys, humouring one husband. I never thought I’d call myself an entrepreneur, but I am now, so I should get used to it.
I started LIPCANDY for a lot of reasons. First I felt there was a need for a lipstick that not only looked beautiful but was also made from better ingredients. Did you know that you can consume about 30% of the lipstick you wear! Think about that. Then think about that over a lifetime. Do you know what most lipsticks are made of? Errr yeah, you don’t wanna know. These beauties are all handmade, with love, using natural ingredients you can actually pronounce. There are no preservatives-like parabens, or artificial fragrances. The colours are rich, luxurious and look amazing on all skin tones.
Speaking of skin tone, the other reason I started LIPCANDY. I was born in Guyana and grew up in Canada. My grandmother - who was born in India, named me Basmatee, it means “the fragrant one”. When my parents first arrived in Canada they settled in Newmarket, Ontario. Basmatee wasn’t a name the local folks were used to, much less the colour of my skin. It wasn’t easy fitting in. That difficult time made me stronger and helped shape me to become the person I am today. Over the years, I have grown to accept who I am, embrace my background, and be proud of my name. After all, it’s what that is unique about each of us that makes us beautiful, right!
Lipstick looks different on every skin tone, so I set out to create a natural product that compliments everyone. I want your lips to feel soft and look sexy for the person wearing it....and to whomever they’re kissing!!
Since our launch in 2018, we've added lip-glosses, lip & cheek balms, and a luxx lip mask. I'm excited to say, our collection is growing, and can't wait to share more details as we launch our products!
I’m just a mom with a dream trying to rethink the beauty industry one lipstick at a time.
Hope you enjoy wearing my products as much I do.
Reach out any time...I would love to hear from you!
